The right not to be offended
On offence:
1. I have the right to offend you.
2. You have the right to take offense.
3. You do not have the right not to be offended.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions as Samuel Johnson apparently didn’t say.
(I should add that in my experience things work out better if I don’t get over enthusiastic about excercising right 1. above. Right 2. tends to negate its value.)
