Random Thoughts

  • What kind of job pays a salary that can service a mortgage on a €700,000 semi-detached house but doesn’t require the ability to see that this is a folly of an investment?
  • I don’t know which is more disconcerting: Phil Leotardo making the hard sell on behalf of Permanent TSB or Miley Byrne making the soft sell on behalf of Seniors Money.
  • The Singularity is not science, it’s a religion.
  • The Labour Party’s problem is not one of branding, it’s that it’s unable or unwilling to make a case for progressive politics. Instead it’s aiming for the non-existent middle ground between FF and FG. Which makes it about as useful as the government’s share in Aer Lingus.
  • What value do you place on your child if you leave them for the length of the working day in the care of someone who is paid little over the minimum wage?
  • Is the US President really crazy enough to launch air strikes on Iran? It would seem so.

      You may want to put points 1 and 5 together for further reflection…

      as for point seven, the more keys you have, the more locks you have also.

      It isn’t the President who is crazy enough to launch air strikes on Iran, it’s the Vice President. It’s an open question who is actually in charge. Not that this is a comforting clarification!
